What Makes Windows Energy-Efficient?

At United Services, all of our vinyl window products come standard with the ClimaTech® Insulated Glass Package. Since 80% of a window is glass, real energy savings come from improved glass performance. ClimaTech's Low-E Glass and Argon Gas significantly improves energy efficiency and cuts the damaging effects of the sun by an additional 78% over clear insulated glass units. In winter, it lets in maximum free solar heat and helps hold warm air inside. Based on their energy-efficiency, all of our windows carry an ENERGY STAR® label.

In making your home energy-efficient, choosing a quality window is half the battle. Besides installing energy-efficient windows, our installers go the extra mile to make the openings around the windows energy-efficient. Our four-step energy-efficiency process includes:

  1. Replacing all the rotted seals and casings around the window. This ensures there is no air leakage from inside or out.
  2. Insulating the weight cavities. All windows have gaps that must be insulated in order to increase your energy-efficiency.
  3. Caulking and sealing the windows on both the inside and outside.
  4. Wrapping the outside window moulding with aluminum coil to give the house a lifetime finish and extra weather protection.

How does the ClimaTech® Insulated Glass Package save you money?

  • The average household spends over 40% of its annual energy budget on heating and cooling.
  • Alside Windows with ClimaTech® can reduce those bills by up to 15%.
  • The energy-saving ClimaTech® Insulated Glass Package helps cut the amount of fossil fuel used while helping reduce air pollution, smog and global warming.

Why is this so important to our country and our world?

If all residential windows in the U.S. were replaced with ENERGY STAR® compliant products. . .

  • We would save $7 billion in energy costs over the next 15 years.
  • The reduction in carbon emissions would be the same as taking 336,000 cars off the road.
  • We could preserve 142,000,000 acres of trees over the next 15 years.
